Adding a GoPro to the camera kit

    Night Sky GoPro

In a move I’ve been threatening to make for an age, I’ve added a GoPro Hero4 Black to the camera kit – instantly jumping in to taking timelapse videos of the drive home and looking to set something up to shoot the night sky, all with the camera only arriving yesterday.

Retailing at €529 via GoPro.com, the camera is currently on offer locally with €129 off so it cut a few weeks off the schedule to add it to the bag. You can also pick it up on Amazon here.

While the Black version doesn’t come with the touchscreen included in the Silver model, it does punch far above its weight when it comes to 4K video production and has a few added bells and whistles.

With an accessories kit on the way from Amazon later this week and some audio cables to follow from GoPro, my next step is to get it matched up with some of the broadcast mics and see how it fits into the current video regime.

I’ll start to share my own feedback and experiences on mixing the camera in with the regular photo and video workflow.

Note: The above shot is one pulled from a sequence in the night multi-shot mode with the camera outdoors, contained in the standard housing.
